Wilfred Schlegel Memorial Fund
Supporting Visionary Initiatives
Objective
To support visionary, risky initiatives in the Mennonite Church designed to explore new program and ministry potentials. The fund intends to provide "venture capital" for this objective.
Applicants
- Applicant must by a member of the MCEC constituency, althought the implementation or location of the project will have no geographical, national, or area church boundaries.
- Awards normally will not be considered for capital projects.
- Awards will normally be for "one time only," although the time period may extend acoss more than one year.
- An application may be focused primarily to support the project or the person.
Application Procedure
- Submit a three to five page proposal describing the proposed activities, budget, and justification, as well as the ways in which the project aligns with the Fund's objective
- The proposal needs to outline how it meets the following criteria:
- Is a visionary initiative
- Explores and develops new programs
- Is church-based and impacts the broader community
- Requires venture capital to start
- All applications should be mailed by April 15 to:

Administration
- Administered by a committee of five members respresenting the Schlegel family: MCEC, Mennonite Central Committee Ontario, Mennonite Economic Development Associates chapter in Ontario, and Mennonite Foundation of Canada.
- Fund managed by Mennonite Foundation of Canada
- Each year $10,000 plus annual interest income earned will be available for awards.
- One or several awards will be made annually.
