A Series of Consultations Engage MCEC In Discernment

MCEC Executive Council and Leadership Team conducted a series of meetings in seven locations across MCEC, held a conference call for congregations from a distance, and met with partner agencies as part of a consultation to discern God’s call and direction. They reflected on priorities and the need to maintain a strong, healthy financial base within MCEC so that congregations, area church, and national church are thriving and able to pursue the ministry to which God has called us.

Executive Council members listened carefully at each meeting as the Leadership Team tested where God’s Spirit may be nudging MCEC into the future. Information and resources on financial trends and health in congregations and area churches were provided by the Leadership Team, while inviting dialogue and reflection from constituents.

“This is a critical juncture for us,” David Martin, MCEC Executive Minister reports. “There was a sense that these conversations were holy conversations as together we discern how to extend Christ’s peace into a new era of ministry.”

The discernment from these meetings will help to give direction to Executive Council and Leadership Team in setting budget and determining collective MCEC ministry. A summary will also be made available to participants and congregations. As the next steps in this process unfold, MCEC staff and volunteers request continued prayer support from the constituency.
