Snapshots of a Church Plant
Snapshot 1 - Quest for Understanding.
The news was devastating. Three-year-old Timothy had been diagnosed with cancer and 54 weeks of chemotherapy would begin immediately.
Chris and Laura Mullet Koop, parents of Timothy, were an important part of the Quest core team. There were many questions
concerning how this news would affect us as we began this church-planting journey.
Walking with Chris and Laura and their children Josiah, Emma and Timothy through this enduring hardship has reshaped our sense of church and mission. As a developing Christian community we have at times been stretched and challenged to the point of utter brokenness. However, this overwhelming trial has opened our eyes to a deeper level of understanding of what our calling as a Christian community truly is. The way in which we have come together to walk through this difficult and untimely season has really become a central part of what it means to be Quest Christian Community.
Snapshot 2 – Quest for Healing
A treasure chest full of band aids! As Natascha shared this vision during a guided prayer exercise, God immediately impressed upon my mind that He not only longed to heal her woundedness and mend her brokenness, but He was calling her to help bring His healing to others. God was going to give her an overwhelming supply of “band aids” so that she could bring healing to others.
Natascha, a single mother of two boys has felt judged by nearly everyone throughout her entire life. Now, as a part of Quest Christian Community, she feels like she really belongs for the first time in her life. She has finally found a community where she is received as an equal. Through her relationships at Quest, Natascha has been experiencing God’s inner healing and miraculously has begun to wonder if she might be called to help heal others. Right before our eyes we are seeing God create a new disciple.
