Many Christians feel like they do not measure up. They feel like they constantly fall short in their faith! In this short book, Michael Yoconelli suggests that this broken and imperfect state is actually 'the workshop of our faith.' In fact, messiness is a sign of a true faith that is growing and it is in this manner that we meet Jesus. In raw fashion, this book reveals that our walk of faith is not a straight line of upward progress, but one that meanders. Yaconelli calls us to strip away the false facade of faith that is filled with pretending that we have everything together and to living a faith that is messy. He feels that it is in this unfinished state that our faith is truly transformed and this will transform others around us.

Why should MCEC congregations (or individuals in the congregation) consider reading this book?

This book helps to breakdown the barriers and attitudes that faith mean you have it everything together. It is a short read, it does not have deep theological jargon, and it has discussion questions. Overall, his writing style is raw and is filled with passionate emotion that holds the reader's attention throughout the whole book.

In what setting can this book be used? (individual, leadership, small groups, etc.)

This book would be useful in a teaching setting during Senior or Junior Youth devotional times and it would also be a helpful tool for youth group leaders as they prepare leading their group.
