Kilometer Kraze - travel reimbursement
For many congregations, this is budget setting time for the new calendar year. In response to a number of congregations who have contacted us concerning a per kilometer rate, perhaps the following information will be a helpful resource.
Mennonite Church Canada 2012 Pastors Salary Guidelines
- see page 3 under expenses.
NOTE: Mennonite Church Canada does not make any recommendation related to mileage reimbursement. They quote the “maximum reasonable rates” that CRA says can be paid without tax implications. This is only to provide the data as information.
"MC Canada does not have a national recommended mileage rate. It is advisable to contact your area church and some local churches to determine what would be appropriate mileage reimbursement in your area."
MCEC's Staff/Volunteer Travel Reimbursement:
- we surveyed a dozen “like” organizations – charities, church schools, MCC, etc. - in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.
- as of July 1st our rate was increased from $0.42 to $0.44 per kilometre, putting us in line with other agencies.
NOTE: MCEC also has a rental rate agreement with Enterprise. Accordingly, our staff/volunteers are instructed to rent a vehicle for day trips of 150 km or more. If they opt to use their own vehicles, they are reimbursed at the rate of the rental ($43.50) plus fuel, rather than the per km rate.
