God Will Always Be With Me - Jenny's Story
I am a grade 7 student on September 2010, it is also my church Markham Chinese Mennonite Church (MCMC) 20 anniversary. I am very happy to take the 20 anniversary of MCMC to share some feeling.
Before my family came to church, I didn’t know anything about Jesus and God. But when I came to Markham Chinese Mennonite Church, I learned that God loves each and every one of us and that he cares about us. I did not believe in him though at that point and time.
I did not believe in God or Jesus until my mom didn’t have a job. In this particular situation, many people helped my mom find a job like Pastor Paul and Aunt Amy. From my short experience in church, I knew that God was the one who sent these people to help my mom. I am very thankful of God because my mom did eventually find a job that she really enjoys. Also I am very thankful because the job that she is working in is close to our house, so when there is a problem she can get here fast.
There was also a time when Marco had a very big fever. At the hospital, pastor Paul took his time to watch Marco at my mom’s side to calm her down. I am very thankful of God because I knew my mom was afraid and scared at that time.
I am also thankful of God because back in Grade 3 I had terrible marks in my report card and I did not know how to raise my marks to the B’s and A’s section. But God helped me; he sent Pastor Paul, Fiona, and Aunt Eliza to help me with my language and math. Eliza is a very caring person because she took her time and had me going to her house and would tutor me in math; this got me better marks. Fiona and Pastor Paul also took their time and tutored me. I would never have gotten good marks in Grade 4, 5 and 6.
If God had never helped me especially when I was in grade 6, I would have faced many hard challenges such as language barriers; if God never gave me a good teacher who trusted me, I would never have had this great opportunity to go through that as well.
When I found out that I was assigned to represent my class in making speeches, I was so scared because I felt that I was going to lose in the competition. I was too scared the day before speeches until I opened the bible and flipped through pages and found Joshua 1:9. This verse says
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
When I read this verse I wasn’t scared anymore because I knew God was with me whenever I went and I didn’t need to be scared. I knew this because whatever the bible said was true. On that day of my competition it was true I didn’t need to be scared because he was with me and was helping me. I knew that because I got first place in the speeches.
Lastly, I am thankful of God because God has helped me recently. When we went to Market village once I got lost. I didn’t know what to do and I was really scared. But I remembered the passage I read from the bible Joshua 1:9. This made me calm a little because I knew God was with me. This is why I took courage and went to someone for help. My mom came and gets me and I knew because in this situation HE gave me the courage and was with me the whole way.
Now that I believe in HIM, I am very thankful of God that I can keep growing up in this family-Markham Chinese Mennonite Church.
