It felt like coming home. Linda, a single parent of five children, had lost touch with the Welcome Inn Faith Community when she moved to a different neighbourhood. In her new setting, she could not find a church that was as accepting and transparent so Linda re-connected with Welcome Inn.

Linda has since faced the trauma of a cancer diagnosis and its subsequent treatment. In the recovery phase she recognized that God’s Spirit had journeyed with her and that her faith community reflected the love and support she most needed. Linda decided it was time to declare her faith by being baptized in her supportive faith community as an act of gratitude to God and as a model to her children.

The day for her baptism drew near and Linda decided to make one further commitment –to include her children in a service of parent-child dedication. On a beautiful Sunday morning, the 1st of July, the family celebrated, the church rejoiced and God was glorified.
