God is So Good

Broken in spirit and searching for meaning and purpose, I arrived at the Jane Finch Faith Community five years ago. Fast forward to March 2008. I have been renewed in my faith and I have found a spiritual home at the Jane Finch Faith Community. This congregation has encouraged me and blessed me beyond measure.

My spiritual growth these past years has been intertwined with that of my church family – growth that is especially reflected in the youth as they have modeled what it means to be disciples of Jesus Christ. They have entertained everyone with their comedy routines, making people laugh until they cry. They have demonstrated remarkable sensitivity and insight. Young men tell women that they are beautiful as they are because that is the way God made them. Teenagers ask people to be themselves because that is what they love and value most. At a recent youth retreat they worshiped with such energy, spirit and joy. In that moment, I felt deep within my soul a profound and unwavering knowledge: God is so good. I leave you with this. At the end of the year, one of the youth turned to me and said “Sonia, it was a really good year for church.”
